Range cookers are a significant investment and need proper care to keep performing at their best. Whether you have a Rangemaster, Falcon, Smeg, Leisure or any other brand, the principles of cleaning are broadly the same.
Cleaning the Ovens
Most range cookers have two or three separate ovens. Remove the racks and shelves and tackle each oven cavity separately. For light build-up, a bicarbonate of soda paste left overnight and scrubbed off works well. For heavy build-up, you'll need a proper oven cleaner โ or professional help.
The Hob and Burners
Remove the burner caps and grates. Soak the grates in hot soapy water, scrub the burner caps with a soft brush, and wipe the hob surface clean. On gas hobs, check the burner ports aren't blocked โ a blocked port means uneven flames and inefficient cooking.
The Door Glass
Range cooker door glass gets heavily soiled. White vinegar and a microfibre cloth works for light discolouration. For baked-on staining, a bicarbonate paste or specialist glass cleaner is needed. Some range cooker doors can be disassembled for more thorough cleaning โ check your manual.
Why Many Range Cooker Owners Choose Professional Cleaning
Range cookers take considerably longer to clean than standard ovens โ typically 3โ4 hours for a professional and considerably more for a DIY attempt. The dip-tank process we use removes carbon and grease from places that simply aren't accessible with a cloth and spray. Our range cooker cleaning service starts from ยฃ100 and covers the full appliance from top to bottom.
